Chapter one · Open your imagination

Dickens’ Lane

Leave the bustle of modern London behind. Step into a Victorian Christmas street, open your imagination and begin your London Christmas Village Journey.

Your first stop

The beginning of your Christmas Journey

A different time

A Victorian street at Christmas

Open your imagination

Let the everyday fall away

Leave the bustle behind

A different place. A different time.

One moment, you are in the bustle of modern London. The next, you are stepping into a Victorian street at Christmas, ready for a story to begin.

Dickens’ Lane is your first stop at London Christmas Village. Its theatrical set is designed to carry you out of the everyday and into the London of Charles Dickens: a street that feels as though it belongs to another age.

The most important first step in any immersive theatrical adventure is to leave the outside world behind. Dickens’ Lane helps you enter that mindset: pause, look around and let the everyday fall away. Open your mind to what might happen next. The adventure begins with your imagination.

The door in front of you

Welcome to 25 Dickens’ Lane

Every good Christmas story begins somewhere. Ours begins at number 25, where even the door number carries a little reminder of Christmas Day. The lane bears Charles Dickens’ name in a fond tribute to the spirit that shines through his stories: generosity towards our neighbours, kindness in everyday moments and a special care for children and the world they grow up in.

As you stand before the door, those values set the tone for the adventure ahead. This is our invitation to carry the spirit of Christmas into the story—and back into the world when you leave.

A theatrical tip of the hat

London’s Christmas story, brought to life

01 / The setting

A street from another age

The set design transports your family into a Victorian London street at Christmas, giving the whole Journey its opening atmosphere.

02 / The inspiration

An echo of Dickens

Our story builds on the values set forth in A Christmas Carol and invites you to recognise a Christmas world shaped by storytelling, generosity and the realisation that it’s people who give Christmas its true meaning.

03 / The invitation

Make room for wonder

There is nothing to solve before you begin. Take in the setting, share the moment with your family and let your imagination lead you into the story.

The city behind the celebration

A home of the modern Christmas imagination

London holds a special place in the Christmas we imagine today. Dickens’ A Christmas Carol helped shape a vision of the season centred on generosity, shared celebration and care for our neighbours.

Dickens’ Lane is our theatrical tribute to that legacy. We want to bring its spirit back into the modern city, giving today’s families a place to fill with wonder and merriment once more.
